Laurie Schmit, LMSW provides contract Clinical Supervision Services to budding Clinical Social Workers for both licensure in the State of Michigan, and in the provision of Private Practice Counseling Services under the umbrella of Laurie’s business, MI Professional Counseling Services, PLLC.
Laurie received her MSW from Grand Valley State University in 2007 with Phi Alpha honors, has been fully licensed in Michigan since 2011, and running her own practice since 2014. She has experience with mentoring and supervising numerous BSW & MSW interns, as well as approximately 20 LLMSWs. She receiving the GVSU SSW Practicum Supervisor of the Year Award in 2012.
Laurie was trained in supervision principles in a semester-long course at GVSU and has continued to learn about providing effective guidance to those who have a limited license. She has a supportive and strengths-based leadership style. Laurie has a passion for helping MSWs develop competence in clinical service provision, build their practice and billing knowledge, and grow their confidence in their therapeutic interventions and documentation. She also provides contracted Business Consulting for those who seek guidance in building their independent private practices.
