Laurie Schmit, LMSW provides contracted Business Consulting Services for those LMSWs who seek guidance in building their independent private practices. Whether you are in the very beginning stages of developing your solo practice or have a sizable PLLC, Laurie can provide support, direction, and training for growing or “right sizing” your business. She starts with a consultation session to assess the challenges and come up with possible solutions including goal setting with action steps. 

Before she completed her MSW, Laurie worked for an economic development organization, Grand Rapids Opportunities for Women (GROW) assisting entrepreneurs in developing business plans, doing financial analysis, and starting/growing their businesses. She has a unique perspective which helps inform her approach to business development consulting. 

Laurie received her MSW from Grand Valley State University in 2007 with Phi Alpha honors, has been fully licensed in Michigan since 2011, and running her own private practice since 2014. She has grown it from a sole proprietorship to a PLLC with 2 outpatient locations in Grand Rapids & Walker, Michigan, teletherapy services, and currently 3 contracted therapists, adding more in the near future.
